The contract for Su-57 supplies to India is at an "advanced stage of technical consultations." This is how the current status of the Russian fifth-generation fighter was described by the head of the United Aircraft Corporation (OAK, part of Rostec), Vadim Badekha, on the sidelines of the Wings India 2026 air show.
According to him, not only supplies of the aircraft themselves to the republic are being discussed, but also their production directly in India. For this, production facilities involved in manufacturing Su-30MKI fighter jets for the needs of the Indian Air Force are being considered.
Today we are at a deep technical stage of negotiations on this contract. Contracts of this kind determine the trajectory of our cooperation for several decades ahead.
Earlier it became known that the Russian side had offered India not only the supply of export versions of the Su-57E and their local production, but also assistance in developing its own aircraft of this level.
At the same time, Indian media reported that the local government is in no hurry to sign a contract for the localization of Su-57 production in the republic and is awaiting from the Russian Federation a detailed report on the cost of such a project.
