India Slows Down Su-57 Production Launch and Demands Project Cost Report

The republic has more than 50% of the necessary infrastructure for the production of combat aircraft

The Indian government is in no hurry to sign a contract for the localization of Su-57 fighter production in the republic and is awaiting a detailed report on the cost of such a project from the Russian side. This was reported by sources from The Indian Express.

Preliminary, in January, the local company Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will receive complete data on the project implementation from Russian suppliers. Then the parties will jointly decide on the prospects for the aircraft production in India.

According to the source, the Russian group includes representatives from the Sukhoi Design Bureau and other defense enterprises. At the end of 2025, they sent a document to their Indian partners, emphasizing that the republic has about 50% of the necessary infrastructure for the production of the Su-57.

As a reminder, India has already produced Su-30MKI fighters under Russian license. It is likely that part of the production capacity will be involved in the Su-57 project.

Aviation expert Roman Gusarov explained to «Первому техническому» why the localization of the Su-57 in India will be beneficial for Russia.
