Sapsan and Avrora Routes to Change After Launch of HSR-1 "Moscow - St. Petersburg"

With the commissioning of the first high-speed railway line (HSR-1) between Moscow and St. Petersburg in 2028, the organization of Sapsan and Avrora train traffic will change. This was announced by the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, Andrey Nikitin, in an interview with TASS.

According to him, the existing routes of Sapsan and Avrora will be redistributed to other destinations. In particular, the possibility of using them on busy lines is being considered, possibly including routes to Kazan. In addition, other options for expanding the high-speed train network are being studied.

Nikitin emphasized that the trains will continue to operate, but their routes will be adapted to the new conditions after the launch of the first HSR line. This restructuring will allow for the optimal use of rolling stock and increase the efficiency of the transport system as a whole.

Transferring trains to other destinations opens up new opportunities for passengers and regional transportation. This will reduce the load on existing routes, expand transport accessibility, and integrate regions into a unified high-speed rail network.
