Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant (ChMK, part of the Mechel group) in 2025 mastered production and received certificates of conformity for four new types of railway rails up to 100 meters long, intended for high-speed rail lines and sections with intensive freight traffic. This was reported by the company's press service.
The certification confirmed the products' compliance with the requirements of GOST R and the technical regulations of the Customs Union. The list included rails of the R65 DT350VS400, R65DT350VS, R65DT370, and R65DT370IK grades. Their design is intended for operation at speeds of up to 400 km/h and is resistant to extreme temperatures, down to minus 60 °C.
The tests were conducted in two stages: first in laboratory conditions, then at the full-scale test site of AO "VNIIZhT". The samples withstood a load equivalent to 150 million tonne-kilometers of freight, confirming their durability and reliability. Representatives of OAO "RZhD" took part in the acceptance tests.
At the same time, ChMK underwent recertification of OR65 switch point rails used in turnouts.
PAO "Mechel" CEO Igor Khafizov stated that expanding the range of rail products will provide customers, both RZhD and concessionaires of infrastructure projects, with comprehensive solutions for all types of railway sections: from heavily loaded freight corridors to high-speed lines. According to him, the company plans to continue expanding its rail product range in order to fully meet market demand for high-tech and high-quality products.
