The winding and insulation workshop of "TMH-Elektrotech" (part of Transmashholding) has significantly increased its production capacity for the manufacture of a critical component of traction electric motors. Thanks to the optimization of technological processes and the redistribution of labor resources, the team of winding mechanics brought the daily output of armature coil sections to 800 units - 160 sections more than a year earlier. The increase in productivity was 25%.
The achieved production volume in one eight-hour shift allows to fully ensure the assembly of nine NB-514E traction electric motors - the energy core of the "Ermak" series main electric locomotives (2ES5K, 3ES5K, 4ES5K). For comparison: in 2024, a similar team produced 640 sections per shift, which was enough for only seven engines. An increase in productivity by two engine units per shift allows the company to additionally complete up to 40 electric locomotives monthly.
Experts believe that the main engine of growth is the introduction of a flow production method while maintaining manual labor, which requires high qualifications. Workshop employees perform operations for the preparation, bending, insulation and control sequentially, which minimizes downtime between stages. The quality of products remains high: the percentage of defects in the geometric parameters of the sections is no more than 0.3%, which meets the requirements for high-voltage equipment of rolling stock.
According to the production department of the enterprise, the increase in the output of windings directly affects the rate of assembly of electric locomotives at TMH sites: since the beginning of 2025, the completion time of one electric locomotive has been reduced by 1.5 working days. This allows to respond more quickly to requests from railway transport operators, including PJSC "FGK" and JSC "RZD".
