In Russia, a passenger can get a refund for air tickets if they were forced to cancel the flight due to participation in hostilities. The corresponding decree was signed by President Vladimir Putin. The document was posted on the official portal of legal acts.
The document amends Article 108 of the Air Code of Russia. The law will come into force on September 1, 2026.
It provides for a refund in the following cases:
- conscription for military service
- assignment to serve in the National Guard in positions with the assignment of special police ranks (for example, senior police sergeant, police captain)
- entry into military service under contract
- conclusion of a contract for being in a volunteer formation
To get a refund, it is necessary to confirm the basis for it. The procedure for processing the refund will be established by the government.
