On January 19, 2026, the second eight-car EP2DM model electric train was launched on the Finnish direction of the Oktyabrskaya Railway. The ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg Alexander Belsky, Vice-Governor of the city Kirill Polyakov, and General Director of JSC "North-Western Suburban Passenger Company" (SZPPC) Kirill Kornilin.
According to Kirill Kornilin, General Director of SZPPC, the growth of passenger traffic on the fixed-interval route "Finlandsky Railway Station – Sestroretsk" in 2025 amounted to 12.6% — this is the highest figure among all fixed-interval directions in the region.
The commissioning of the second EP2DM train is part of the program for the development of suburban transportation approved by the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation and is aimed at ensuring comfortable conditions for passengers during peak hours, taking into account the active housing construction along the route.
