On January 19, 2026, the second eight-car EP2DM electric train was launched on the Finland direction of the Oktyabrskaya Railway. The ceremony was attended by Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg Alexander Belsky, the city’s Vice Governor Kirill Polyakov, and General Director of AO "Severo-Zapadnaya prigorodnaya passazhirskaya kompaniya" (SZPPK) Kirill Kornilin.
As reported by SZPPK General Director Kirill Kornilin, passenger traffic growth on the clock-face route "Finland Station – Sestroretsk" in 2025 amounted to 12.6% — the highest figure among all clock-face directions in the region.
The commissioning of the second EP2DM trainset is part of the suburban transportation development program approved by the Russian Ministry of Transport and is aimed at ensuring comfortable conditions for passengers during peak hours, taking into account active residential construction along the route.
