The universal nuclear icebreaker "Ural" of Project 22220 arrived at the port of the village of Dikson — the northernmost settlement in Russia — to deliver humanitarian aid from the satellite television operator "Tricolor". As part of a joint initiative with the state corporation "Rosatom", modern satellite equipment, televisions, and soundbars of the company's own production were loaded onto the ship in Murmansk.
The equipment is intended for social institutions in Dikson: a secondary school, a children's art school, a cultural and leisure center, and a central library. Thanks to the new equipment, local residents will have access to digital multi-channel television, and cultural institutions will have expanded opportunities for educational and enlightenment events.
The action is timed to coincide with the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the development of the Northern Sea Route. According to Vyacheslav Ruksha, Deputy General Director — Director of the Northern Sea Route Directorate of "Rosatom", the development of infrastructure in Arctic settlements is considered a key element of the strategy for the integrated development of the route. He noted that Dikson, which historically provided coal to the first Soviet icebreakers in the 1930s, remains a symbol of continuity in Russia's Arctic policy.
