Developments in the programs of import-substituted MC-21-310 and SJ-100 Superjet may be used in the creation of a new wide-body aircraft in Russia. This was stated by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The department emphasized that the wide-body program is important both for flights within Russia and for international transportation.
Currently, options are being worked out for creating a wide-body aircraft using the scientific and technical groundwork obtained both during applied research carried out by specialized research institutes, and based on existing developments in the SJ-100 and MC-21 programs.

Aviation expert Roman Gusarov warned that one should not expect the aircraft in the near future, because there is a lot of time between the project and the real aircraft.
