The technological base of a high-thrust engine based on the PD-35 gas generator may be used to develop an engine for a long-range aircraft. This was stated by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The department clarified that research work on the power plant has already begun.

As a reminder, the ПД-35 is the basic engine of a promising family of turbofan power plants with a thrust of up to 38 tons. The technologies used in the development of the ПД-35 will form the basis for creating a family of high-power turbofan engines. Work on the unit is being carried out at "ODK-Aviadvigatel" (part of the United Engine Corporation of Rostec).
Alexander Inozemtsev, General Designer of UEC, noted that testing of the PD-35 power plant is currently underway on a test bench in Perm.
