Situations involving unclosed cowlings on SSJ-100 aircraft are related to incorrect work performed during technical inspections at the base of airlines or their technical partners. This was stated by the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec).
Since 2023, such incidents have been recorded three times — twice with the airline "Azimuth" and once with "Russia." Only in one case was the maintenance carried out at the manufacturer's linear station.
Recommendations have been sent to the operating airlines regarding the need to control the position of the tension lock handles of the engine cowling after servicing the unit.
The corporation added that questions regarding the transportation of units and compliance with loading or unloading technology should also be addressed to logistics service providers.
As a reminder, in June 2025, during a flight from Moscow to Batumi, a Superjet-100 aircraft experienced an engine cowling detachment in the air. Due to the situation, the crew decided to return urgently.
The "Superjet-100" is a narrow-body short-haul aircraft designed to perform flights up to 5,000 km. The SJ-100 became the first civilian serial aircraft created in Russia after the collapse of the USSR.
