How S7 Technics repairs airplanes: a blogger visited the hangar where every detail is under control

Blogger Maxim Demin showed the work with engines, interiors and composites

Maxim Demin, the author of the Youtube channel Demin’s Lounge, spoke about his exclusive tour of the hangar of the S7 Technics production base in Mineralnye Vody, where aircraft are serviced and repaired.

According to him, the whole process is organized like in a laboratory: each tool is stored in its place and issued by pressing a button, and missing tools are manufactured according to IATA rules if necessary.

Special attention is paid to the operation of engines: they are checked with a special camera for the slightest defects, and parts are cleaned, repaired or replaced if necessary, including titanium blades.

There is a separate hangar for painting aircraft, where the old paint is completely removed and the new one is applied manually in layers — up to 300 kg of paint is used for one aircraft, which improves the aerodynamics and efficiency of the aircraft.

Aircraft interiors undergo a complete modernization: seats, panels, ceiling, carpet and toilets are updated, while each part is returned strictly to its place.

The blogger also drew attention to the workshop for the production and repair of composites, where, for example, nose cones are created, and any deviations from the standard are unacceptable.

All operations are recorded in the system: from replacing a bolt to painting, and the history of each aircraft is saved from the moment of its "birth". Parts without the necessary certificates are sent to quarantine until documents are received.

Demin emphasized that such excursions are rare and it is best to show them on video in order to see the backstage of aviation.
