Inter RAO plans to complete the production of the first turbine with a capacity of 170 MW in 2028. This was announced by the head of the company, Sergey Dregval.

According to him, Inter RAO is conducting large-scale work on import substitution and plans to implement several large projects.

For example, a decision has been made to create our own production of large and medium-sized gas turbines, and we plan to complete the production of the first turbine with a capacity of 170 MW in 2028.
Sergey Dregval, head of Inter RAO

Dregval added that in 2026, Inter RAO will complete the construction of the first stage of a plant for the repair and production of blades for gas turbines in the Leningrad Region. The amount of investment already exceeds 10 billion rubles, and the industry will receive a total of 30 billion rubles over five years.

There is already a turbine of similar capacity in Russia — GTE-170 from Power Machines. The creation of a second production site for high-capacity turbines in addition will reduce the dependence of the Russian energy system on single suppliers, including Siemens and General Electric.
