PJSC Yakovlev, part of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) of the Rostec State Corporation, intends to expand the operational boundaries of the Superjet 100 (SJ-100) regional airliner. This was announced by Denis Velizhanin, leading flight test engineer and airborne operator of the company.
According to him, the current stage of work is focused on obtaining a basic type certificate, but the flight test program will not end there. The immediate plans include comprehensive tests aimed at confirming the aircraft's stability in extreme climatic and geographical conditions. In particular, we are talking about tests in high and low temperatures, as well as at airfields located in high-altitude areas.
A large proportion of the tests there will fall on the engine, because in the same heat, these are elevated temperatures, starts can be very affected. The same cold is lowered temperatures, again, these are starts, characteristics, how it will behave. And the highlands are rarefied air.
Expanding the operating conditions of the SSJ100 will allow airlines to use the aircraft in a wider geographical range, including regions with harsh climates and difficult terrain, which will increase its competitiveness in the international market.
