The key tasks of the Krylov State Research Centre will be to address the acute staffing problem, create a modern digital infrastructure, and eliminate duplication of research and development work (R&D).

According to preliminary information, the center will be formed as a kind of supra-departmental institute, uniting disparate research schools and standardizing engineering approaches.

The head of the Marine Board of the Russian Federation, Nikolai Patrushev, explained that the Krylov State Research Centre will occupy a place in the industry comparable to the Zhukovsky State Research Centre and the Kurchatov Institute National Research Center in their respective segments of the industry.

The press service of the United Shipbuilding Corporation told "Pervy Technichesky" that by 2036, Russia will build more than 1,600 units of civil vessels and marine equipment of various types. Also, USC is carrying out a large-scale modernization of the Severnaya Verf shipyard in St. Petersburg, where Project 22350 frigates are produced.
