AvtoVAZ predicts a significant decrease in sales of Lada cars in 2025: approximately 23% compared to the previous year. This was stated by the company's CEO, Maxim Sokolov.
According to him, the total sales forecast is about 370 thousand cars, including exports. It is expected that about 350 thousand new Ladas will be on the Russian market by the end of the year, while 459 thousand cars were sold in 2024.
The volume of the entire Russian car market this year may be approximately 1.4 million new cars, although 1.3 million were expected earlier. The autumn surge in demand was largely due to imports, which, according to Sokolov, does not contribute to technological independence and does not stimulate localization of production. The growth in demand is mainly due to Chinese brands and through parallel imports, the top manager believes.
Sokolov added that, apart from October, when sales were boosted by the expected increase in the recycling fee, the market in 2025 shows weak dynamics. Demand for Lada models remained low throughout the year, which led to the forecast of a decrease in sales.
