The new import-substituted MC-21-310 aircraft is only at the beginning of its certification path, and it still has 270 flights to complete. This was announced by the head of Rosaviatsiya, Dmitry Yadrov.
According to him, the aircraft has made 23 planned certification flights out of 293 (7.85%).
The certification procedure for the aircraft is planned to be completed at the end of 2026.
Former designer of the Sukhoi Design Bureau, Vadim Lukashevich, expressed doubt that the Irkutsk Aviation Plant is capable to build 270 MC-21-310 aircraft by 2030. Recall that this is the number assumed by the current Comprehensive Program for the Development of Civil Aviation.
Aviation expert Andrei Velichko explained that it is still difficult to predict when exactly the MC-21-310 will reach production rates of up to 20 units per year. In parallel with this, it is necessary to achieve the production of a sufficient number of PD-14 engines.
