The KamAZ-53193 "Chistogor" hydrogen truck project has demonstrated impressive results during road tests. The average fuel consumption was only 7.5 kg of hydrogen per 100 km, and the minimum was 5.5 kg, which is significantly lower than the level of 8.5 kg specified in the technical specifications.
The vehicle is built on the basis of the K5 family cab, equipped with a hydrogen fuel system with an electric drive, has a carrying capacity of over 20 tons and is capable of traveling up to 500 km on a single refueling with the prospect of increasing the range to 1000 km.
Thanks to these results, the developers announce the advanced achievement of planned indicators and confirm the high potential of hydrogen traction technology in commercial transport. The company notes that such indicators pave the way for longer runs and economical operation in the freight segment.
Experts believe that such projects can bring the domestic automotive industry to the leaders of the hydrogen direction, especially in the segment of heavy commercial vehicles.
The next stage of testing of "Chistogor" involves working in real operating conditions - on the routes of industrial enterprises and logistics operators.
