Very rare footage of the refueling of a MiG-31BM strategic fighter from a Su-24M front-line bomber has appeared online. The "Kinzhal" carrier was refueled using a special device - UPAZ-1.
Flying with refueling allows the MiG-31BM crew to significantly increase the range and duration of missions without landing at the airfield. UPAZ-1 provides a stable fuel supply at high speeds and in difficult maneuvering conditions.
Previously, such footage rarely appeared in the public domain. The publication of photos and videos demonstrates the coordinated work of crews and modern technologies of aerial interaction.
The MiG-31 was built in 1975-1994 at the "Sokol" aircraft plant in Gorky, a total of 519 units were produced. Currently, the aircraft are in service with the Aerospace Forces of Russia and the Air Defense Forces of Kazakhstan.
As of 2013, Russia had 190 MiG-31 aircraft at its disposal. There is no more recent information.
Earlier www1.ru reported that an unusual and cheap weapon was found against drones.
