The Russian military has begun to receive Plastun-TT wheeled all-terrain vehicles. In November alone, the units will receive several dozen of these vehicles, said the general director of the developer, the Russian All-Terrain Vehicles Plastun company, Erik Sagymbaev.
Plastuns are used to transport soldiers and cargo and to evacuate the wounded. The military notes the high payload capacity and cross-country ability of the all-terrain vehicle compared to civilian transport due to the articulated steel frame, consisting of two halves.
The fracture mechanism makes it better than any full-frame vehicle in terms of cross-country ability. If the transporter gets into a rut, the front and rear parts are turned with the help of two powerful hydraulic cylinders, respectively, the front and rear wheels simultaneously come out of the rut. This design is also effective when climbing a steep slope and will pass where other equipment will get stuck.
Sagymbaev added that the vehicle confidently overcomes slopes above 30 degrees and a ford up to 80 cm deep. The length of the all-terrain vehicle is 5.15 m, the curb weight is 1850 kg, the speed is up to 100 km/h, and it can take on board up to ten people in full gear.
The front of the car has seats for the driver and passenger. In the rear section, which is 1.9 m long, there are two benches for three people each, located on the sides, and there is another seat between them.
You can freely install a pair of stretchers on the benches, then a medic will take the place between them. There is simply no such volume of space in the buggies that are massively used at the front.
