Минпросвещения опровергло информацию о включении в школьную программу Counter-Strike и Dota 2

It was reported that a training module with games popular among schoolchildren would take from 8 to 36 hours

The Ministry of Education of Russia has officially denied reports that the popular video games FIFA, Counter-Strike, and Dota 2 could become part of the school curriculum.

Earlier, several Telegram channels reported that they were planning to introduce them into physical education lessons as "phygital disciplines" as early as the 2026–2027 academic year.

The publications claimed that the training module would take from 8 to 36 hours and had allegedly received approval from the department. Moreover, it was reported that the project would soon be submitted to the State Duma for consideration. However, the Ministry of Education emphasizes that there are no such plans.

Interest in esports in education has been raised before. In 2019, the Internet Development Institute proposed adding disciplines based on the games Dota 2, FIFA, and World of Tanks to the school curriculum, arguing that this would develop strategic thinking, teamwork skills, and reaction speed. The ministry then acknowledged that gamification elements could be useful in education, but warned that excessive enthusiasm for such subjects could lead to overwork for schoolchildren.
