Solikamsk Magnesium Works (SMW, part of Rosatom's mining division) and Ulan-Ude Instrument-Making Production Association (U-U PPO, a Rostec enterprise) have entered into a partnership agreement in the field of import substitution of rare earth metals of the magnetic group. The signing took place at the international forum World Atomic Week.
SMW is completing the design of a new complex for the production of rare earth metals. The first stage has already passed state expert review. After commissioning, the company plans to produce about 2.5 thousand tons of finished products annually, including such sought-after elements as neodymium and praseodymium.
U-U PPO intends to purchase REM directly from SMW in agreed volumes and terms. In addition to supplies, the parties will cooperate in the creation of innovative products based on rare earth materials produced in Solikamsk.
