Крупнейший судостроительный завод «Красное Сормово» и «Северную верфь» модернизируют

The modernization of enterprises will increase the volume and reduce the construction cycle of ships

The United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) plans to modernize the "Northern Shipyard" and the shipbuilding plant "Krasnoye Sormovo".

The modernization of the "Northern Shipyard" is planned to be completed by 2030. This will increase its productivity by 15 times and will allow building up to 11 medium and large-tonnage vessels per year.

The project includes the introduction of large-block assembly of ships, automated cutting and welding lines, modern shot blasting and painting chambers, and the construction of covered slipway positions. Such measures will reduce the construction cycle and increase the technical readiness of ships to 90% already at the slipway stage.

We plan to complete the preliminary design for the modernization of the USC Northern Shipyard this fall. Practical implementation will begin in the second quarter of next year. Modernization will allow us to switch to new shipbuilding technologies, which will ensure high-tech construction of ships up to 350 meters long and 60 meters wide. The work will be carried out in stages so as not to stop current production processes. This will ensure stable order fulfillment throughout the reconstruction period.

The modernization will also affect the USC plant "Krasnoye Sormovo" — one of the oldest shipbuilding enterprises in Russia, founded in 1849. The first stage of modernization will start in the second quarter of 2025.

The modernization program includes a major overhaul of the existing infrastructure, the construction of new facilities, the renewal of the fleet of technological equipment and the use of digital production technologies. It is planned to introduce new laser metal cutting lines, automated welding, the construction of a painting chamber for large blocks and the reconstruction of the outfitting embankment.

These measures will allow the plant to switch to mass serial production of RSD59 project dry cargo ships and promising vessels based on Platform 1 with a planned output of about 20 units per year.

Earlier www1.ru reported that USC is designing a new shipyard on the basis of the "Northern Shipyard".
