The United Engine Corporation (UEC, part of Rostec) presented the results of work on the creation of the PD-35 high-thrust aircraft engine.
Managing Director - General Designer of JSC "UEC-Aviadvigatel" Alexander Inozemtsev presented to the President of the Russian Federation the results of the implementation of breakthrough domestic projects in the field of aircraft engine construction.
The "PD-35 Engine" program has been implemented since 2017. The unit is designed for wide-body transport and passenger aircraft. Previously, aviation gas turbine engines in the 35-ton thrust class had not been created in the domestic aviation industry.
The created technology demonstrator engine is successfully undergoing testing in Perm at the country's largest open test stand, which can test aircraft engines with a thrust of up to 50 tons.
At the first stage of testing, more than 50 starts were performed, repeatedly ensuring entry into takeoff mode with the engine reaching a thrust of more than 35 tons.
The second stage evaluates the performance of high-pressure compressor and high-pressure turbine blades made of new materials, as well as a low-pressure turbine shaft made of a new domestic material.
When creating the promising PD-35 aircraft engine, the scientific and technical groundwork from the development of the fifth-generation PD-14 engine is used as much as possible. The development of 20 new critical technologies is underway, including the creation of new materials, coatings, structural solutions, design and manufacturing technologies.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russia is completing the construction of 7 new aircraft, 3 helicopters and 6 aircraft engines.
