A modernized version of the bionic underwater drone "Okun" has been developed at the Samara University named after Korolev. The device retained its fish-like shape and moves in the water with the help of a caudal fin.
The length of the underwater drone is 1 meter.
The prototype was already equipped with the appropriate electronic filling with a video camera, a microprocessor, a technical vision system and a transceiver, but in the new version we are significantly changing the electronics, for example, we are installing a more powerful radio control and communication system and a more advanced and high-quality video camera. The control range of the device will increase significantly.
In the new version, the trim control system has been modernized. This allows "Okun" to quickly float to the surface, raising its "back", on which the video camera lens is installed, above the water surface.
This innovation makes it possible to quickly change the shooting angle from above-water to underwater and vice versa. The image from the video camera is transmitted to the operator in streaming video mode thanks to a powerful video signal transmitter on board.
The underwater drone "Okun" belongs to the class of autonomous uninhabited underwater vehicles of the bionic type and is capable of operating at a depth of up to five meters. Its body is made of plastic using a 3D printer, and the flexible caudal fin is made of polyurethane. The movement of the tail is controlled by a servo drive and two artificial "tendons" made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene. The device is powered by several lithium batteries.
The electronic filling of the drone is currently being installed, an important task is to achieve complete sealing of the device. We plan to test the modernized version this year - first in the pool, then in one of the reservoirs in Samara.
The bionic shape of "Okun" allows it to consume less energy for movement and makes it less noticeable in the water compared to traditional underwater drones. In addition, it is able to independently navigate underwater and distinguish between specified targets.
Earlierwww1.ru reported that the Russian autonomous underwater drone TurtleROV2was released into mass production.
