Aviation expert Gusarov: the tasks were solved after connecting Rosatom

In the production of the Russian MC-21-310 aircraft, the composite wing became a problem for the aircraft manufacturers. An expert in the industry and editor-in-chief of the Avia.pro portal, Roman Gusarov, explained that although this part was developed in Russia, it was made from foreign materials, which the country will no longer have.

The aviation expert recalled that the wing was developed at the Aerocomposite plant in Ulyanovsk, where imported carbon fiber, binders and an imported robot-stacker were used. However, in 2018, sanctions were imposed against the company, which delayed the MC-21 project by two years.

We had to develop our own materials, first carry out the entire complex of their tests, make a wing out of them, test the wing itself. And then build a whole plant in Alabuga for the production of this carbon fiber. With the connection of Rosatom, this problem was solved.

An aviation specialist recalled that the situation also affected the avionics of the aircraft. Initially, it was developed by the Radioelectronic Technologies Corporation, but with foreign components.
