PJSC "Yakovlev" and JSC "Aerocomposit" have begun work on adapting and improving the structural solutions of the new MC-21 aircraft, according to Anatoly Gaidansky, Director of the Engineering Center.
According to him, in the MC-21, the main part of the composite structures is located in the detachable part of the wing. Specialists have developed and manufactured two prototypes of the caisson with a length of up to 22 meters and a chord of up to 6.5 meters.
We are currently making some changes to the design of the detachable part of the wing in order to realize the accumulated experience in the form of mass. We hope to remove several hundred kilograms from the wing itself. And a little from the tail and a little from the wing-fuselage fairings.
