The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation has allocated 199.8 million rubles for the development of a vessel project intended for northern delivery. The deadline for completion is set for December 17, 2026.
Applications for participation in the competition for the development of a technical project of a supply vessel, code "Snabzhenets", are accepted until August 25, 2025, and the results will be announced on August 29. Russia is experiencing a significant shortage of vessels of this type, which makes the creation of a modern domestic supply vessel for the transportation of various goods along the Northern Sea Route a task of particular importance.
The aim of the work is to develop a technical project of an ice-class vessel with a carrying capacity of about 18 thousand m³ to ensure northern delivery. It should be able to transport a wide range of cargo (packaged, bulk, heavy and oversized), as well as provide unloading in ports with insufficiently developed coastal infrastructure. An additional advantage will be the possibility of operation without icebreaker escort.
The high ice-class vessel will be designed for year-round operation in the Arctic seas along the Northern Sea Route and adjacent estuaries of the Ob and Yenisei rivers, providing transportation of general and bulk cargo, containers and dangerous goods of various classes.
Earlier www1.ru reported that SSK "Zvezda" is preparing to deliver tankers and gas carriers of ice class.
