Dmitry Gusev, First Deputy Head of the "A Just Russia – For Truth" faction, sent letters to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Minister of Digital Development Maksut Shadayev with an initiative to develop a program for transferring user data from WhatsApp and Telegram to the Russian messenger MAX. The proposal mentions the need to create a convenient and secure mechanism for migrating correspondence, media files, and documents.
I propose initiating the development of a state program that will ensure free, secure, and convenient transfer of data from WhatsApp and Telegram to the state messenger MAX, as well as the ability to save information on personal devices. <…> I ask you to consider allocating state funds for the development and implementation of the program as soon as possible.
Gusev noted that users store significant amounts of personal and professional information in messengers, the loss of which could create inconvenience. As a successful example, he cited the experience of VKontakte, which had previously implemented tools for transferring content from YouTube.
We cannot leave people without their personal and professional information.
According to the deputy, technologies for the transfer already exist.
Earlier, www1.ru reported on the possible blocking of the WhatsApp messenger.
