Индия обновит истребитель Су-30МКИ до уровня «4.5+» ракетами Astra и радаром Virupaksha

The aircraft will also be equipped with a digital cockpit with touch screens

India has begun implementing a large-scale modernization program for Su-30MKI fighters called "Super-30." As part of the project, it is planned to upgrade 84 aircraft within 3–4 years, extending their service life to 2055.

The main element of the upgrade is the installation of an active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar. The new radar is capable of detecting aerial targets at a distance of up to 300–400 km, which significantly exceeds the capabilities of current systems.

Also, the Su-30MKI will receive a fully digital cockpit with a new on-board computer to improve situational awareness and combat management, and large touch screens. The armament will include "Astra" Mk-2 and Mk-3 "Gandiva" missiles with a range of up to 300 km.

The modernization includes the installation of new infrared search and track (IRST) systems, electronic warfare (EW) suites, as well as ensuring interaction with autonomous drones through secure communication channels using artificial intelligence.

The program envisages a high level of localization — up to 78% of components will be of Indian production.

The Su-30MKI multirole fighter in India is produced under a Russian license by the state corporation Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. It forms the basis of the Indian front-line aviation.
