Sea trials continue in the Kaliningrad region for the second newest Tamala frigate of Project 11356 for the Indian Navy. Photos have appeared online, while the ship was scheduled to be handed over to the Indian side back in June.
In October 2018, Rosoboronexport signed a contract worth 1.2 billion dollars for the completion of two Project 11356 frigates for the Indian Navy in Russia, at the Yantar shipyard in Kaliningrad. The first frigate, F 70 Tushil, was handed over to the customer last year.
The main strike weapon of the 11356 frigates is a shipborne firing complex for eight missiles. In the Russian version of Project 11356, the frigates carry one shipborne complex for eight Oniks and/or Kalibr-NK missiles each.
The Indian frigates will be armed with BrahMos anti-ship missiles of joint Russian-Indian production. Previously, the Baltic Shipyard and Yantar had already built six Project 11356 frigates for the Indian Navy.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the Yars strategic missile system has entered combat patrol.
