Certification Tests of the Aircraft with the PD-14 Engine Have Officially Started

A series of certification tests of the latest MC-21 aircraft with import-substituted equipment and systems began at the airfield in Zhukovsky this week. During the first flight, radio communication tests were conducted, but this is just the beginning.

Deputy Head of the Completion and Flight Test Complex for Civil Aviation Technology at PJSC Yakovlev, Nikolai Fonurin, noted that two MC-21 aircraft with numbers 0012 and 0013 have entered the stage of additional certification tests.

After the radio communication quality tests, the aircraft with the number 12 will undergo tests on the fire protection system, and aircraft 0013 will be tested for the quality of the fuel system, anti-icing system, and hydraulic system.

In particular, tests under natural icing conditions will be conducted at the Arkhangelsk airfield. Tests on the tire are expected to be conducted at the airfield in Ulyanovsk.

МС-21 is a new generation medium-range aircraft with a capacity of 163 to 211 passengers. The first flight took place on May 28, 2017, and on December 15, 2020, the aircraft made a flight with the Russian PD-14 engine.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the VK-800 engine for the LMS-901 "Baikal" began testing on the Yak-40 flying laboratory.
