The Russian VK-800 turboprop engine for the LMS-901 "Baikal" regional aircraft has been installed on a Yak-40 flying laboratory for flight tests at the S. A. Chaplygin Siberian Research Institute of Aviation (SibNIA). This was reported by the Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA).
As part of the certification tests as part of the Yak-40 flying laboratory, the installation and commissioning of the VK-800 engine have been completed.
Work completed successfully, the next stage is a test flight.
The Russian VK-800 turboprop engine is being developed by Ural Civil Aviation Plant JSC for such UZGA JSC projects as the LMS-901 Baikal light multi-purpose aircraft, the UTS-800 training aircraft, the Russian-Belarusian LMS-192 Osvey regional aircraft, and the re-engining of localized L-410 aircraft.
The development of the VK-800 engine began in 2019, the gas generator was assembled in 2022, and factory refinement tests began in 2023.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Tu-214 is alive, not dead: commercial deliveries of the aircraft will start in 2026.
