Successful density and strength tests of the sealed reactor compartment containment have been carried out at the first unit of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant. This was reported by the press service of the Rosatom State Corporation.
A number of operations carried out during these tests are unique and are performed once, only after the complete completion of construction and installation works in the reactor building. The results confirm that the containment system fully complies with all design and regulatory requirements. This is an important step towards commissioning the first power unit and evidence of the high quality of work at all stages of construction.
During the tests, the pressure inside the containment was increased to 4.6 kgf/cm² (approximately 0.45 MPa). This made it possible to check the ability of the equipment to withstand internal loads that occur in abnormal conditions.
Earlier www1.ru reported that equipment at power unit No. 1 was checked at the Rooppur NPP.
