The staff of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant in Bangladesh (located 160 km from the city of Dhaka) has begun a testing program at the first power unit after the completion of construction and installation works. This was reported by the press service of the state corporation Rosatom.
The company clarified that the first stage of the reactor plant's commissioning to nominal parameters is currently underway. During this stage, specialists are checking the operability of equipment and mechanisms, as well as the main circulation pumps (MCPs).
The program will culminate in testing the reactor plant at nominal parameters without nuclear fuel. This should confirm that the equipment meets all design characteristics. After completing the entire set of tests, the unit will be ready to begin start-up operations.
The commissioning of the Rooppur NPP will provide the Republic of Bangladesh with environmentally friendly and safe energy.
