Fraudsters are extorting personal data from victims, allegedly to register for an electronic queue

Attackers are calling people and introducing themselves as employees of the migration service. They ask to provide personal data for registration in the electronic queue, the Main Directorate for Migration Issues of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia warned.

Attackers may ask the victim to provide passport data under the pretext of registering for an electronic queue or applying for a ticket online.

Such cases are especially common in the annexed territories, where many citizens have relatively recently received Russian passports.

Police noted that this is only the beginning of the criminal scheme. Other attackers, posing as representatives of various organizations, may try to contact the victim.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs warned: if a “police officer” contacts you via the Internet, including a representative of the migration department, this is a scammer. Do not fall for tricks and do not continue the conversation.

Earlier www1.ru reported that scammers have found a new way to deceive Russians: they pretend to be employers and extort large sums of money. Victims are those who are looking for work on job sites.
