Transportation tickets purchased through an iPhone may cost 5-7% more than those purchased on Android devices. This was stated by Mikhail Trebukhov, head of mobile advertising at the digital agency RTA.
The expert noted that the difference in ticket prices on travel services may vary. The cost of a ticket is affected not only by the smartphone's operating system, but also by other factors, such as the direction of travel, class, and time of day when the user searches for a ticket. In general, the average check for iPhone owners is higher than for Android users.
The price may also vary depending on the region from which the user accesses the application. Platforms focus on their own economy and form offers taking into account the solvency of people in a particular place and the demand in it.
Services determine the region and form the price using various device identifiers. In particular, they use the smartphone's IP address.
Services do not focus on the user's identity – the region is important. Based on this information, a pricing model is built that allows the business to optimize sales by territory.
Earlier, the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia developed a draft government decree. It proposes to set a fee for the return of railway tickets at 10% of their cost.
