Aeroflot's plans for a hundred MC-21s by 2030 are fairy tales: the aircraft do not yet physically exist

MC-21 may start production in 2026, but at a maximum of five units per year

Viktor Gorbachev, General Director of the "Airport" Association of Civil Aviation, called the plans of the airline "Aeroflot" to receive a hundred of the newest MC-21 aircraft by 2030 "fairy tales". They are talking about the MC-21 because domestic airlines simply have no other options at the moment, the aviation expert explained.

Gorbachev recalled that neither the equipment, nor the aircraft itself, nor the engines have been certified.

It is unknown how long all these tests will take. The transition to domestic aircraft is correct, but they simply do not physically exist yet.

He suggested that the MC-21 may start production in 2026, but at a maximum of five units per year.

Even if we produce 10 aircraft, it will take 20 years to replace the foreign aircraft fleet. We are not particularly happy yet, we are flying on what we have.
