The new Russian air-to-air missile R-37M with a nuclear warhead, which began to enter service with the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS), is capable of shooting down entire enemy squadrons, according to Military Watch Magazine.
According to them, the integration of nuclear warheads into the R-37M will allow one Russian fighter or interceptor to neutralize entire squadrons of enemy targets, large swarms of drones, or entire volleys of cruise missiles.
At the same time, each Su-35S fighter and MiG-31BM interceptor will be able to carry four missiles.
According to preliminary data, the R-37M missile is equipped with a large warhead weighing 60 kg, which is three times the weight of the warheads used on standard air-to-air missiles. This makes it possible to install a miniature nuclear warhead.
R-37M missiles can be used by MiG-31BM interceptors or Su-35S fighters.
