Право на забвение: россиянам рассказали, как удалить фейки о себе, интимные фото и паспортные данные из поисковиков

A person can demand the removal of outdated or unreliable information from search results

Any Russian can remove unreliable information about themselves from search engines. The Department for Organizing the Fight Against Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation explained how to do this.

The concept of the "right to be forgotten" is in effect in Russia: citizens can demand the removal of outdated or unreliable information about themselves from search results.

To hide links with false or outdated information, for example, about a former place of work, you need to send a request through Google, Yandex or Mail.ru forms. After reviewing the arguments and evidence, the disputed pages will be removed from the search results.

If confidential or illegal data is found on the Web (for example, intimate photos, copies of documents, personal data, etc.), you must contact search engines directly. For Yandex, there is a special request to remove such materials from the search results.

Specify the URLs of the pages and argue why the content violates your privacy – search engines will remove links to it from the search results.

The department advises regularly checking Yandex and Google search engines for mentions of your name and related keywords. You can set up free notifications to promptly receive emails about new results. This way you will always be aware of where and when you were mentioned, and you can react quickly.

The Department for Combating Cybercrime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia advised using trusted antiviruses, enabling the "private" mode in the browser and being careful with suspicious emails and phishing sites. Attackers can hack your accounts and gain access to personal information.

Earlier www1.ru reported that, according to analysts' forecasts, every second Russian will be subjected to a deepfake attack by the end of the year. Attackers will actively use new technologies to imitate the voices of familiar people.
