The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation has allocated 14 billion rubles to improve the parameters of the Russian PD-14 engine for the MC-21 aircraft. The engine needs to be made more fuel-efficient, lighter, and less noisy.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has allocated 14.2 billion rubles for research and development (R&D) to improve the qualities of the PD-14 propulsion system for the MC-21 aircraft. The procurement in the format of an open competition was published on the public procurement website on April 9, 2025, under the code "Improvement of PD-14."
Applications from participants are accepted until April 28. As part of the work, technical capabilities should be identified to reduce the labor intensity and material consumption of manufacturing, as well as to increase the maintainability of the engine. The contract must be completed by December 10, 2027.
