Specialists from the Baltic Shipyard (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) loaded a three-tiered superstructure block onto the under-construction nuclear icebreaker "Chukotka" of Project 22220. The block, weighing over 200 tons, consists of nine sections, and the installation was carried out using the "Demag" floating crane.
After installation and assembly, the block will continue to be saturated with equipment, and the arrangement of internal premises will begin.
In the future, the wheelhouse, crew cabins, recreation areas, sanitary and household premises, and equipment necessary for ship management and navigation safety will be located here.
The total weight of the superstructure is about 2.4 thousand tons, and the height of the icebreaker after the completion of the entire hull formation will exceed 50 meters.
"Chukotka" is the fifth icebreaker of Project 22220, which is being built by order of the state corporation "Rosatom". The main task of these vessels is to ensure year-round navigation in the western part of the Arctic.
