Kazan Aviation Plant (KAP) has signed contracts for the supply of 23 Tu-214 passenger aircraft, according to the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan, Oleg Korobchenko.

According to him, KAP is actively expanding production, all for the sake of import substitution. A total of 90 billion rubles will be spent on modernization.

According to the government's task, KAP should produce four Tu-214s as early as 2025. The buyers will be the airlines "Iraero", S7 Airlines and "Yakutia".

Previously, KAP set a goal to build dozens of Tu-214s by 2030, in particular, it was planned to construct up to 20 aircraft annually. However, as Oleg Korobchenko clarified, in 2025 the plant will be able to produce only two such aircraft. KAP also faced a shortage of labor resources - there is a shortage of about 2.5 thousand workers.

The Tu-214 aircraft was manufactured in Kazan in 2006, and in 2015 it was sent to storage. In June 2024, after restoring airworthiness, the aircraft made its first flight, and then went to Minsk for repainting. After returning to Kazan, it was modernized - imported components were replaced with Russian counterparts.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the certification of the Il-114 turboprop aircraft is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025.
