The Russian missile system "Oreshnik" will be deployed on the territory of Belarus. This was announced by the head of the Second Department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Alexey Polishchuk.
The diplomat clarified that the deployment of "Oreshnik" in the neighboring republic will be organized according to the agreement between the presidents of Russia and Belarus, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko.
Russia, in accordance with allied obligations, which were enshrined in the Security Concept of the Union State and the bilateral interstate Treaty on Security Guarantees in 2024, is ready to provide Minsk with the necessary assistance and take steps to protect the common defense space.
According to the information on the "Объясняем.рф" portal, the maximum range of "Oreshnik" is 5,500 km, it can carry a warhead weighing up to 1.5 tons and reach speeds of up to Mach 10 (about 12.4 thousand km/h). Putin emphasized that none of the existing missile defense systems is capable of shooting down "Oreshnik".
