The Russian missile system "Oreshnik" will be deployed in Belarus. This was announced by the head of the Second Department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Alexey Polishchuk.
The diplomat clarified that the deployment of "Oreshnik" in the neighboring republic will be organized in accordance with the agreement between the presidents of Russia and Belarus, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko.
Russia, in accordance with the allied obligations that were enshrined in the Security Concept of the Union State and the bilateral interstate Treaty on Security Guarantees in 2024, is ready to provide Minsk with the necessary assistance and take steps to protect the common defense space.
According to the information on the portal "Объясняем.рф", the maximum range of "Oreshnik" is 5,500 km, it can carry a warhead weighing up to 1.5 tons and develop a speed of up to 10 Mach (about 12.4 thousand km/h). Putin emphasized that none of the existing anti-missile systems is capable of shooting down "Oreshnik".
