Ammunition of the Russian ground-based operational-tactical missile system (OTRK) Iskander-M is capable of destroying any targets, even at a depth of several tens of meters underground. This was stated by the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense, Yuri Shvytkin.
The deputy noted that missiles for Iskander are cheaper and easier to manufacture than, for example, for the Kinzhal air-based complex.
Iskander missiles are difficult to reach for air defense systems, since materials from the stealth system are used in their manufacture. The deviation from the target is a maximum of 5-20 meters, the range of destruction is up to 500 km. It is possible to destroy underground bunkers, breaking through reinforced concrete by several tens of meters. This is a serious danger to the enemy.
Iskander-M is equipped with two main types of missiles: the quasi-ballistic 9M723 with the ability to control the entire flight path and electronic warfare modules for jamming, as well as the R-500 cruise missile, capable of automatically bypassing the terrain.
