Membrana Will Protect Against Surveillance and Spam: MTS Launches Application to Filter Internet Traffic and Unwanted Calls

The application will block advertising and protect personal data

MTS operator has introduced a paid mobile application Membrana, which helps to filter Internet traffic and incoming calls. With its help, you can block advertising and protect your personal data, including your phone number.

Currently, only residents of Moscow and the Moscow region can use the application. In the future, the company intends to gradually expand the service area.

The Membrana application is a product created by the Future Crew team, which is engaged in innovations in MTS. It helps to protect the subscriber's digital footprint from spam, viruses and unauthorized access to personal data. The application also blocks advertising in the form of images, videos and texts.

If necessary, the user can hide their main phone number. The product provides a number of additional numbers, the leakage of which does not pose a danger to the user.

If the system detects user data in leaked databases, it will notify the subscriber and provide recommendations.

The application filters all traffic that arrives on a smartphone or tablet, whether it is incoming calls or gigabytes of data on the Internet. Membrana performs filtering not on the device, but in the network, which provides protection against threats and web tracking, and also speeds up web surfing and reduces the device's energy consumption.

In the future, the company plans to introduce functionality that includes temporary e-mail, a filter for SMS messages, the ability to clone the subscriber's voice, voice masking and protection against deepfakes.

Earlier, MTS received a patent for a system that allows to calculate theft in power grids. This development, based on artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms, is able to quickly identify anomalies in electricity consumption and find illegal mining farms.
