Mobile operator MegaFon has developed a unique algorithm that automatically redistributes traffic in the LTE (4G) network across frequency bands at base stations. The technology allows maintaining a stable signal and high mobile internet speed for subscribers in conditions of interference and overload. Testing is underway in the capital, the operator's press service reported.
The algorithm updates information about data transmission at base stations every 15 minutes.
If interference occurs on one of the LTE bands, incoming and outgoing traffic is automatically redirected to a free band in the same network. After the problem is resolved, traffic is redistributed across all available bands again. Thus, base stations can continuously exchange data with subscribers' devices even while interference is being eliminated.
The development of a unique technological solution has enabled us to respond quickly to the impact of various negative factors on the network without users noticing. We can already say that we have been able to reduce the number of subscribers affected by interference and overload by 25%, although the algorithm is still in the testing phase.
Earlier it became known that MegaFon and Bureau 1440 will launch satellite internet in remote regions of Russia. This will provide users with a high-quality internet connection using the LTE communication standard. Base stations will be connected gradually. Specialists will start with those places where it is impossible to lay fiber optic lines.
