Roscosmos cosmonaut Ivan Vagner shared an impressive photograph of comet C/2024G3 (ATLAS). The picture was taken from the International Space Station (ISS).
The pictures were taken on 01/11/2025 at 03:35 (Moscow time). The focal length of 400mm and aperture of f/2.8 are the same for all pictures.
The first and second frames were taken with a shutter speed of 1/80 seconds at an ISO of 1000. For the third shot, Vagner changed the parameters — the shutter speed was 1/60 seconds, and the ISO increased to 4000.
It is worth noting that comet C/2024 G3 was discovered on April 5, 2024 using telescopes of the Atlas project. Residents of Russia were able to observe its flight on January 12, 2025.
The comet was best seen an hour before sunrise throughout Russia — from the Far North to the Far East.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the comet Tsuchinshan - ATLAS will reach the minimum distance from Earth on October 12.
