The "Resurs-P" No. 5 spacecraft, launched on December 25, 2024, from Baikonur, successfully transmitted the first images from the territories of the USA, China, and the UAE. Roscosmos reported that the main observation instruments were activated at 10:35 Moscow time on January 3, which made it possible to obtain high-quality images.
This data will be used for monitoring natural resources, controlling pollution, and protecting conservation areas, as well as for developing international cooperation in the field of ecology and remote sensing of the Earth.
It is worth recalling that the developer of the "Resurs-P" satellites is the Rocket and Space Center "Progress". These spacecraft are designed to update maps, assist in the economic activities of organizations such as the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, Rosrybolovstvo, Roshydromet, and others, as well as to collect information in the field of environmental control and protection.
