Russian air defense units have significantly increased their firepower after receiving Tor-M2U and Tor-M2KM anti-aircraft missile systems. Analysts have named the main tactical and technical advantages of the systems over the earlier version, the Tor-M1V.
The complexes received promising and more jam-resistant radar equipment based on a waveguide-slotted phased array antenna. Promising high-maneuver interceptor missiles 9M338K (R3V-MD) were integrated into the ammunition load as part of two 9Yu18E transport and launch modules (instead of two 9Ya281 TPKs with 9M331/D missiles).
The compactness of the new 9M338K missiles made it possible to expand the installation's ammunition load from 8 to 16 units.
At the same time, the available overloads of the new missiles, achieved due to a larger structural safety margin and a more advanced aerodynamic control system based on tail rudders with destabilizers, amounted to 40 units, which made it possible to intercept targets with overloads of 20 units instead of 10 units for the 9M331D.
Moreover, the maximum speed of the 9M338K missile reached 1000 m/s, which increased the likelihood of intercepting high-speed targets on pursuit courses. The effective range of these missiles can reach 15-16 km with an interception altitude of up to 12 km.
Also, an advanced radar fuse increased the likelihood of initiating the warhead of intercepted rockets and enemy strike UAVs.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the Gvozdika self-propelled guns and D-30 howitzers will start hitting the enemy even further, they received the latest shells with a range of 19.3 km.
